Kevin Norton, Paul Jones, and Noah Berman have been spending their summers since 2013 in the woods of Maine at Camp Encore Coda educating young students in jazz and improvisation. Finally, in January 2019 they got together in New York City to record and document their group sound. Invariably, they have a distinct rapport from all their time together. Perhaps it developed through numerous conversations commiserating on how to inspire a love for instrumental music in young people. Perhaps it came from the multiple performances given at staff concerts every summer. Whatever the reason, each performer's unique voice can be heard creating a sound of shared experience.

Renowned percussionist and composer Kevin Norton has performed and recorded with a wide array of musicians — from Anthony Braxton and Joëlle Léandre to Milt Hinton and Fred Frith. His compositions are featured on a number of recordings, both with his own as well as other ensembles.

Paul Jones - composer, tenor sax, clarinet

Paul Jones is, at heart, a storyteller. Whether drawing inspiration from classic works of literature or the confessional rhymes of hip hop; the spontaneous inventions of his jazz forebears or the intricate architecture of contemporary classical music; or simply connecting with his own life experiences – Jones’ music invariably takes the listener on a compelling narrative journey.
